Two people in their 90s in critical condition after accidental fire involving heater in Salina home

Salina, N.Y. — Two people in their 90s are in critical condition after a heater caused a house fire in Salina Tuesday night, deputies said.
The fire at 321 Glendale Ave. in Salina was reported at 11:30 p.m.
Firefighters found heavy fire on the house’s left side when they arrived, according to Matthew Manley, the chief of the Liverpool Fire Department.
When first responders arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames, said Tom Newton, a spokesperson for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. After the fire was extinguished two people were found inside, he said.
One person was a 90-year-old woman and the other person was a 95-year-old man, he said. Both were taken to Upstate University Hospital and are in critical condition, he said.
The fire appears to be accidental, the result of a heater, he said.
